Grid Drawing Worksheet

Step by step

  1. 01

    Choose your reference

Upload a clear photo or load the portrait example. This page starts with Blank grid only enabled and Print setup selected.

  2. 02

    Export the matching pair

Choose columns in Grid, then paper, orientation and margins in Print setup. Export the blank sheet; switch off Blank grid only in Grid and export the reference without changing the other settings.

  3. 03

    Print and check a cell

Use Actual size / 100%, matching paper and no headers or footers. Measure one full cell with a ruler, then copy outlines into the matching labeled cells.

How many grid columns should I choose?

Start with 4–6 columns for simple outlines, try 8–12 for everyday drawing practice, and add more for complex detail as needed. Column count sets the drawing sections; DPI sets output pixels and print fineness. Increasing DPI does not add missing photo detail.

Grid Drawing Worksheet — Frequently asked questions

Do the reference and worksheet match?

Yes. Keep the same photo, columns, square-cell mode, paper, orientation and margins when toggling Blank grid only. The labels, image bounds, full-cell measurements and any partial final row remain identical.

Can I make a worksheet without a photo?

This worksheet uses the proportions of a reference image. Upload a photo or actively load the portrait example first. You can then hide the photo to export the blank grid.
