Mural Grid Calculator

Step by step

  1. 01

    Set up the reference

Upload your image or load the botanical mural example. Mural settings open first; the example uses 12 square columns and an A4 landscape reference with 10 mm margins.

  2. 02

    Set the artwork width

Enter your target width in millimetres. Height follows the source image ratio. Full wall-cell width is target width divided by columns; enlargement is target width divided by printed image width.

  3. 03

    Transfer the same cells

Print the reference at 100%, check a cell and mark the calculated intervals on the wall. Match labels and contours; preserve a shorter final row if shown.

How many grid columns should I choose?

Start with 4–6 columns for simple outlines, try 8–12 for everyday drawing practice, and add more for complex detail as needed. Column count sets the drawing sections; DPI sets output pixels and print fineness. Increasing DPI does not add missing photo detail.

Mural Grid Calculator — Frequently asked questions

Does target width mean the whole wall?

It is the width of the artwork. Height is calculated from the photo, so the artwork may not fill your entire wall. Measure the available space before marking the grid.

Can I print the mural across many sheets?

This calculator provides wall measurements and a one-page reference. It does not create a tiled multi-page wall-size print. The enlargement factor compares the wall artwork with the fitted printed image, not with source pixels.
